Anti-Spam and Email Filtering

Utility Control uses automatically and frequently updated filters to protect against digital threats such as viruses, spam, exploits, and other forms of malicious content. All incoming email with clear indicators of such threats is deleted or blocked:

  • Email containing a virus is immediately and permanently deleted.

  • The sender’s domain is checked against several international RBL (Real-time Blackhole List) databases. If listed, the filter blocks the email and returns a standard (SMTP) technical message to the sending mail server. Note: It is the sender’s own responsibility to ensure their mail server is removed from the relevant RBL lists.

  • Blocking of known malicious files.

  • Blocking of emails containing executable files.

  • Keyword filtering of undesirable terms or character combinations in the subject line or message body. These messages are placed in a temporary email quarantine and may be released by the recipient within several days.

Due to Utility Control’s email filtering, and additional filtering that may be applied by internet service providers, it is possible that your message does not arrive – or does not arrive in full. Therefore, we advise you to confirm receipt by other means when sending important emails or files to Utility Control.
